Structured boxwood hedging, manicured lawn and sculpted topiaries provide balance and rhythm against the home's classic facade and covered balconies. Every planting was intentionally selected and placed to reinforce the architecture rather than compete with it.</p><h6>Inner courtyard</h6><p>In the courtyard, the landscape softens the hardscape and creates a resort-like atmosphere around the pool. The simplicity of the layered greenery and architectural planters allows the pool and arched steel doors to remain the focal point.</p><h6>Landscape lighting</h6><p>Strategic uplighting was integrated throughout the property to highlight architectural details, create depth at night and extend the ambiance well beyond sunset. The lighting design focused on warmth, subtlety and precision, illuminating specimen plantings, accenting the home's columns and archways, and creating soft reflections across the water without overwhelming the space.</p><h6>Outcome</h6><p>The result is an exterior environment that feels equally refined during the day and the evening hours. The project reflects our approach to luxury residential landscapes: intentional, architectural, and designed to feel timeless for years to come.</p>

<h5>Signature Landscape Contractors transformed the outdoor environment of the Origami House into a seamless extension of its architecture, blurring the line between structure and landscape.</h5><p>Located on the private peninsula of Twelve Oaks in Winter Park, the Origami House was designed by OSA Studio and constructed alongside a sister property. Defined by a striking combination of slate and Corten steel, the residence presented a unique opportunity to craft an outdoor environment that complemented its architectural vision while maximizing the potential of an intimate site.</p><h6>Design vision</h6><p>The bold geometric design inspired a landscape that feels sculptural yet serene. Working within the compact site, the design sought to create a sense of openness and visual continuity, allowing architecture, landscape and nature to read as a single composition.</p><p>A mature specimen oak became the organizing element of the front garden, anchoring the landscape and establishing an immediate connection to the site. Layers of meadow-inspired planting introduce softness, movement and seasonal interest, providing contrast to the home's crisp architectural forms. Throughout the property, carefully framed views, clean lines and composed planting areas reinforce the geometric character, while a restrained palette of materials paired with naturalistic planting creates calm, depth and cohesion.</p><h6>Scope of work</h6><p>Installation of a large character specimen oak as the centerpiece, surrounded by a curated selection of ornamental grasses chosen for their texture, movement and ability to thrive in Florida's coastal climate, creating a low-maintenance yet visually captivating environment.</p><p>Hardscape elements were placed strategically to enhance both function and appearance, blending with the natural surroundings and complementing the home's slate and Corten steel materials, including pathways and gathering spaces. Thoughtful grading and planting maximize the perception of space on the small lot, so the landscape feels expansive and open while maintaining privacy.</p><h6>Challenges and solutions</h6><p>The primary challenge was the lot's small footprint, which required innovative design to achieve the clients' vision of an open, prairie-like aesthetic. Low-profile, free-form grasses create depth and movement without overwhelming the space; the specimen oak anchors the design and draws the eye upward and outward to enhance the sense of scale; and minimalist hardscape features mirror the home's architectural style without cluttering the lot.</p><h6>Outcome</h6><p>The completed landscape is a serene, visually striking sanctuary that preserves one of the homeowners' most cherished features of the property, its extraordinary privacy. Carefully tucked away from public view, the residence remains discreet from the street, yet once visitors step through the entrance the landscape unfolds into a lush, welcoming oasis. <h5>The home, which can only be seen by boat or by those lucky enough to be invited guests, is truly one of the area's most exclusive hidden treasures. Signature Landscape Contractors was entrusted with the complete landscape design and implementation of this remarkable property, a traditional lake house envisioned by the esteemed Varnava Design Studio.</h5><h6>Design vision</h6><p>The home's timeless architecture and organic material palette inspired a landscape that feels both luxurious and naturally understated. The vision centered on crafting a lakeside retreat for multigenerational living, where the homeowners, extended family and especially their young grandchildren could gather, explore and create memories.</p><p>The outdoor environment needed to offer ample entertainment space while highlighting playful, and at times fantastical, elements that would delight a younger generation, balanced against the home's traditional and serene lakeside setting. Outdoor seating and dining, watersports, boating, hide-and-seek and even the family's annual easter egg hunt were all treated as essential parts of the homeowners' lifestyle. Each zone needed to connect seamlessly, so the whole property stays calm and cohesive even amid the joyful chaos of family activity.</p><h6>Scope of work</h6><p>The landscape design began with site elevations and grade planning, followed by an extensive underground stormwater management and containment system. Planting included large character specimen oaks, magnolias, podocarpus hedges, bamboo screening and comprehensive lakeshore management featuring stone rip rap.</p><p>The plant palette is a curated selection of woody ornamentals and groundcovers, each chosen for texture, movement and long-term resilience, and selected specifically for their ability to thrive in a lakeside environment while enhancing the property's architectural character.</p><p>Hardscape integration brought in oversized planters, oversized lawn steps and synthetic turf to serve the outdoor dining and summer kitchen areas, along with carefully crafted pathways and seating areas leading down to the lake and the boat dock.</p><h6>Challenges and solutions</h6><p>The entryway was the most apparent challenge and became one of the property's most memorable features. The approach was an irregular, long and winding drive, narrow enough that it blocked any ability to feature the home.</p><p>Large specimen oak trees now create a canopy-lined entry that invites each guest on their approach. Animal sculptures from the client's collection, rendered in low-maintenance materials, are positioned to break the monotony of that approach and invite a sense of discovery, while creeping fig and greenery against the white walls open up what is otherwise a narrow, confined space.</p><h6>Outcome</h6><p>The result is an outdoor environment built around the homeowners' philosophy of bringing family and loved ones together. Each activity space comes together cohesively, staying true to the overall theme of the property while enhancing the home's architectural appeal, and creating a luxurious retreat with real functionality for recreation and entertainment.</p>

The exterior spaces were envisioned as an entertainment haven, creating a welcoming retreat for grandchildren and family to enjoy the outdoors year-round.</h5><p>Newly built by renowned Winter Park builder Michael Charles Homes, the residence offers refined craftsmanship and thoughtful architectural detailing.</p><h6>Design vision</h6><p>The Sybelia Farms House was envisioned with a modern interpretation of traditional architecture. The homeowners were particularly drawn to the character and charm found in rural California farm landscapes. Working closely with our clients, the Signature team explored a variety of landscape and hardscape styles that could support this vision.</p><p>Ultimately the design direction evolved into a California Patina Farms aesthetic, one that elevated the home's architectural heritage while fulfilling our client's desire for a relaxed, rural-California garden in the heart of a small Florida downtown.</p><p>The rear patio was designed to accommodate generous outdoor entertaining, complete with a summer kitchen. A private cabana off the master suite created a serene retreat for the homeowners to unwind. The signature feature of the project is an elongated swimming pool, intended for active lap swimming, crafted to blend seamlessly with the landscape and enhance the space rather than command it.</p><h6>Scope of work</h6><p>The landscape design covered grade planning and an underground stormwater management and containment system, then the installation of large character trees: magnolias, podocarpus hedges and elegant olive trees, with extensive use of Eagleston hollies for screening. All plantings were surrounded by carefully curated, loosely planted shrubs, herbs and ornamentals. One of the most distinctive elements is the use of gravel garden beds, inviting spaces designed to be wandered, explored and meandered through.</p><p>From the intricate brick pattern driveways and pathways to the clean, subtle natural tones of the expansive pool deck, the hardscape pays homage to the Patina Farms theme. Large hand-crafted Tuscan planters elevate the olive trees surrounding the waterline, bringing scale and timeless character. Seamless integration from the rear patio to the pool deck and into the private master cabana with its fireplace was essential to the design, and the oversized spa was paired with a unique bubbler system on a complementing sun shelf. A custom outdoor shower and a waterfall further enhance the subtle, organic aesthetic.</p><h6>Challenges and solutions</h6><p>The unique depth of this lot led the client to request an unusually long and expansive pool. With a feature of such scale, the design risked overpowering the space, so the challenge was to deliver a large, memorable pool while maintaining a subtle, soft aesthetic that would not dominate the property.</p><p>A second challenge arose from the client's preference for an eclectic, loosely planted garden palette, an approach not typically incorporated into Signature's more structured, sculpted design language. Integrating that California-inspired softness into a traditional Florida setting required thoughtful research, refinement and restraint, including selectively introducing plant varieties usually found in California and confirming they would thrive within Florida's climate.</p><h6>Outcome</h6><p>The project delivered a distinctive, highly tailored outdoor environment that stands apart from traditional Florida landscapes, blending unconventional plant palettes with refined hardscape elements while maintaining the highest level of execution. It also broadened Signature's creative portfolio, demonstrating the firm's ability to adapt, innovate and execute complex design narratives.</p>
